Godiva Chocolate
Many of us have certain things that we just would not change no matter what was offered. No matter how young or how old, how set in our ways, or how spontaneous, we all have things that we call our favorites and that we always get, never settling for an alternative. This is especially true for many a chocolate lover - there are some of us who, when we get a hankering for chocolate, can have nothing more and nothing less than Godiva chocolate.
Godiva chocolate - our introduction to Belgian chocolate
Before Godiva chocolate came to this country in 1966, you would be hard-pressed to find a fine piece of chocolate. Here in the US we were all only had access to the locally produced varieties which tend to be of a very different taste and caliber. But, we didn't know any better and, like a fish in a small bowl, we were content not knowing what the world of chocolate had to offer. Our only experience with chocolate was with all of the bars and things that we could pick up at the corner candy store and, as far as we were concerned, that was what chocolate was and that is what chocolate tasted like. Ok, we might get our grandparents a big box of chocolates for their anniversary or the holidays, but that was about it. For many years we wallowed in our ignorance of good quality chocolate.
That is until the sun finally rose in the year 1966, when Godiva chocolate finally came stateside. it did take a while for it to catch on and it was only available in very limited areas for quite a few years, but slowly, slowly, it filtered down to the masses. A collective shock permeated through society as we all asked ourselves, "What have we been eating all this time?".
Now we can find Godiva chocolate in many places including the local bookstore. So many of us have been converted that Godiva chocolate never has any trouble finding a home that will love it.
